Each piece is embroidered by hand by a craftswoman of Kutch. Slight variations in embroidery and weave are natural, as each piece is handmade.

This pouch is a considered expression of everyday utility, shaped through the craft practices of Kutch. Embroidered in the Jat Garasiya style by artisans of the Jat community, it carries the distinct character of counted thread work. A single cross stitch is worked with precision to build dense, geometric patterns that form the bold, mosaic-like surfaces typical of this embroidery tradition.

Small in scale yet practical in use, the pouch is designed to organise essentials with ease. It features a secure zip closure and two inner pockets, allowing for simple, functional storage. The form remains understated, letting the detail and discipline of the handwork come forward.

Size:
Pouch Width: 7.0in
Pouch Height: 5in

Inside Pockets: 2

Care:
Hand wash only in cold water with mild detergent. Do not wring or bleach. Dry flat in shade.

Note:
Each piece is handmade, and slight variations in colour, embroidery, and detailing are part of its character. Colours may vary depending on screen settings.

Dry clean is best for hand-embroidered and mirror-work pieces.

If you wash it, hand wash gently and separately in cold water with a mild detergent; do not soak, wring or scrub the embroidery.

Dry flat in the shade, away from direct sun.

Iron on the reverse on a low setting, never directly on the embroidery or the mirrors.

Store it folded in a muslin or cotton cloth in a dry place, and air it every few months.

Avoid spraying perfume directly on the cloth.

Shipping is free on every order within India. Orders ship from our Bhujodi warehouse in Kutch.

How it is made

The making ofa Shrujan piece

From the studio in Bhujodi to a craftswoman’s home in her village, and back to you: every piece passes through these hands.

  1. Designers at work in the Shrujan studio01

    Designed in the studio

Ideas are developed and sampled at the Shrujan campus in Bhujodi, where pre- and post-production are carried out in close collaboration with artisan communities.

  2. Archive photograph of a village workshop02

    Carried to the village

Our production team reaches fabrics and threads to the craftswomen in their villages. The women do not have to pay for the materials.

  3. A craftswoman bent over her embroidery frame03

    Embroidered at home

Shrujan’s craftswomen work from home, in their own villages across Kutch, each in the embroidery of her community.

  4. An artisan at work, photographed in her village04

    Paid at her doorstep

Shrujan pays them their fair dues at their doorstep, as soon as they have completed the embroidery.

  5. The Shrujan studio floor, with racks of finished cloth05

    Finished into the piece

The textiles are fashioned into high quality apparel, accessories and lifestyle products, and sent to you.
