Avinya

Avinya, meaning innovation and beauty in Sanskrit, signifies change and new beginnings. A collaborative initiative by Shrujan and LLDC, Avinya brings together traditional artisans of Kutch to create artworks driven by their own stories, expressions, and artistic language. Each piece is co-created by two to three artisans, encouraging collaboration, experimentation, and innovation—often for the first time in their practice. Avinya marks a new chapter for the artisan community of Kutch, inspiring collective creativity while preserving cultural identity. Rooted in Shrujan’s vision since 1969 of building a strong and independent craft community, the initiative re-centres the artisan’s voice—balancing tradition with contemporary expression and thoughtful innovation.
